University Testing Center/CLAST InformationUNIVERSITY TESTING CENTERContact: Rebecca Piety, Assistant DirectorHoward Phillips Hall, Room 107 Phone: (407) 823-5109 The University Testing Center administers the state College Level Academic Skills Test (CLAST) and the Computer-Adaptive CLAST (CAT-CLAST); placement examinations such as Accuplacer and the College Placement Test (CPT); College Level Examination Program (CLEP) exams; Florida Teacher Certification Exams (FTCE); Foreign Language Proficiency Exam (FLPE); Grammar Proficiency Exam (GPE); and the Residual Academic College Test (ACT). It also administers the following national exams:
CLAST (College Level Academic Skills Test)The College-Level Academic Skills Test (CLAST) is designed to ensure that students have achieved communication and computation skills commensurate with successful completion of the lower division course work. All students seeking an Associate in Arts or Baccalaureate degree from a Florida state institution must meet the CLAST requirement. CLAST can be taken after the completion of 18 hours of course work and should be completed by 60 hours. Transfer students with more than 60 credit hours should take CLAST during their first term at UCF.Transfer students who have met all requirements for the A.A. except for CLAST may be admitted. Community college transfers should have "General Education Requirements Met" noted on their transcripts. If the CLAST requirement has not been satisfied and the 36 hours of upper division credit have been earned, enrollment in future terms at UCF will be prohibited until the CLAST requirement has been satisfied. Every degree-seeking student must satisfy the CLAST requirement either by passing all four sub-tests of the CLAST or by meeting the CLAST alternative criteria.
